Instructions
Before the session and after it
These are the sheets we print and hand out in the clinic. Read them before your appointment and keep them afterwards — most of the complications we see come from ignoring one line on one of these lists.
+968 2456 7800- Eat a light meal two hours before, unless you have been asked to fast
- Tell us about any blood thinner at least seven days ahead
- Bring an adult with you if the sedation is intravenous
- Avoid smoking for twenty-four hours beforehand
- Bite on the gauze for half an hour without changing it
- Cold pack twenty minutes on, twenty off, for the first six hours
- Do not rinse or spit on the first day
- Cold, soft food — and no straws at all
- No coffee, tea or coloured sauces for forty-eight hours
- Use a sensitive toothpaste for a week
- Do not smoke for the first two days
- Mild sensitivity is normal and passes within two days
- Brush after every meal with the orthodontic brush
- Avoid nuts, ice and anything sticky
- Use the wax on any bracket that rubs your cheek
- Do not put off an adjustment by more than a week
