A day in this group

Sunflowers is a bridge year. Children write for real reasons — labels for the class shop, invitations for the spring show — and read in pairs every morning. They also learn the unglamorous skills that make first grade easy: waiting, listening, asking for help, finishing something they started.

By May, most of our Sunflowers can carry a conversation in two languages and tell you exactly why worms matter.
