Riding a driverless freight corridor end to end

Four hundred kilometres of instrumented highway, filmed from the cab that no longer needs someone in it.

Autonomous freight found its market by narrowing it: fixed corridors, mapped centimetre by centimetre, with human drivers taking over for the first and last few kilometres.

The depot is the innovation

Most of the engineering we filmed was not on the road. It was at the transfer hubs, where a human-driven tractor swaps a trailer onto an autonomous one in under seven minutes.

Weather is still the boundary. Operations pause in heavy rain, and that pause is written into the contracts rather than hidden.

The footage from hour three is the most telling: nothing happens, for a very long time, which is the entire point.
