Every device runs the same instrumented suite: sustained load, thermal logging, power draw at the wall, and a two-week daily-use period before a score is assigned.

Passive cooling reviews usually end at the point where a laptop gets warm. That is where ours started: six hours of continuous compilation with surface temperatures logged every thirty seconds.

Throttle honestly or throttle late

The best machine here dropped 11% of its peak clock and then held that number flat for five and a half hours. The worst held peak for eleven minutes and then oscillated all afternoon.

Flat and slightly slower beats fast and unpredictable for anything you actually work on. Our 8.6 went to the boring, consistent one.
