Ask today's assistants a question and the answer is fluent, fast and usually right. Ask one to move a recurring meeting and you learn where the seams are.
Action needs different guarantees than speech
A wrong sentence is embarrassing. A wrong write to a shared calendar is a lost afternoon for eight people. That asymmetry demands confirmation flows nobody enjoys designing.
The most usable systems we tested were also the most cautious: they preview an action, name the exact object being changed, and refuse to guess between two similar entries.
Fluency is a feature. Reversibility is the product.
