Every device runs the same instrumented suite: sustained load, thermal logging, power draw at the wall, and a two-week daily-use period before a score is assigned.

One writer used an e-ink tablet as their only screen for a month, including editing and email. Reading and drafting were a pleasure. Everything involving a file manager was not.

Latency you stop noticing

Current panels land around 70 ms for a typed character, and the brain adapts inside a day. Scrolling still ghosts, and diagrams still smear, but text input is genuinely solved.

Eye comfort is the reason to do this and it held up: no evening headache across four weeks, which no LCD in our office manages.

An 8.1 for a device that changes how a working day feels, held back by software that treats files like an afterthought.
