Two shifts inside a warehouse running humanoid robots

We filmed a full pick-and-place line for eight hours. The robots were impressive; the choreography around them was the real engineering.

Watch enough promotional footage and you assume these machines are dropped into an existing facility. They are not. The building is rebuilt around them: lighting, floor markings, bin geometry and, above all, human traffic patterns.

The cycle-time truth

On camera, a humanoid moves a tote in about nine seconds. A dedicated gantry does it in three. The humanoid wins only where the task changes daily and a gantry would need reprogramming.

Safety certification, not capability, sets the deployment speed. Every new grip pattern is a new risk assessment.

The footage that surprised us most was the handover: a worker and a robot sharing a station without either one waiting. That took the operator four months to tune.
