Every device runs the same instrumented suite: sustained load, thermal logging, power draw at the wall, and a two-week daily-use period before a score is assigned.

Mapping accuracy is easy to demo and hard to live with. Every unit we tested built a decent floor plan on the first pass; the differences appeared on day nine, after furniture moved.

Recovery is the real metric

The winner did not have the best sensors. It had the best behaviour when its map was wrong: it re-localised in under a minute instead of restarting a full survey.

Cable handling separated the field sharply. Two models reliably reversed out of a charging cable; one wound it around the brush every single time.

A 7.5 here reflects a machine that maps well, escapes well and still cannot be trusted near a rug with a loose fringe.
