Inside three studios building for spatial displays

Filmed over two weeks: how teams design interfaces when there is no rectangle to design inside.

Every studio we visited had thrown away its first design system. Layout rules that assume a fixed frame do not survive contact with a display anchored to a room.

Comfort is the constraint

Panels drift toward the same conservative envelope: waist to eye height, within arm's reach, never demanding a head turn beyond about thirty degrees. Anything more ambitious tested badly within twenty minutes.

The most interesting footage is of designers physically walking around a mock-up with tape on the floor, because no 2D tool captures whether a panel is in the way.
