For years, private fusion communicated exclusively in milestones achieved. Over the last eighteen months several teams began publishing shots that did not work, with enough instrumentation data to be checked.

Why negative results matter here

Confinement physics is where optimism hides. A published failed shot lets other groups rule out a configuration without spending two years rediscovering it.

Net energy remains distant, and nothing in this shift changes that timeline. What changed is that outside physicists can now audit the claims.

A field that only publishes wins is not a field yet.
